Dvě vzpomínky na Rudolfa Zahradníka

Na jednoho z otců zakladatelů Učené společnosti České republiky vzpomínají Helena Illnerová a Eva Zažímalová – bývalá a současná předsedkyně Akademie věd ČR. Oba články vyšly v Živě 2020, 6.

Polární ekolog prof. Josef Svoboda převzal Řád Kanady

Už loni jsme informovali, že zahraniční člen Učené společnosti České republiky prof. Josef Svoboda (*1929) obdržel za svou vědeckou práci v Arktidě nejvyšší kanadské vyznamenání, Řád Kanady (Order of Canada). Epidemiologická situace bohužel ani po roce neumožnila uskutečnit slavnostní ceremoniál v tradiční podobě. Generální guvernér Kanady proto letos 5. března řád Josefu Svobodovi předal v jeho domě v Burlingtonu (Ontario) alespoň na dálku – prostřednictvím Svobodovy manželky Lewiny.
