- In 1995-6 founded the Cardiocenter and has been the head of the center until now.

- In 2008 awarded the first Silver Medal of the European Society of Cardiology, in 2013 as Andreas Gruntzig awardee for interventional cardiology second Silver Medal of the ESC.

- Honorary Member of the British Cardiovascular Society, Polish Society of Cardiology, Hungarian Society of Cardiology, Slovak Society of Cardiology, Czech Society of Cardiology.
- In 2005-15 chairman of the National Board for Accreditation in Cardiology at the Czech Ministry of Health.
- In 2011 awarded (by the Czech Prime Minister) prize „The Czech Head 2011“ (the single most prestigious research award in the country).
- Since 2015 recognized every year by Thomson Reuters as the most cited Czech physician and listed among the best scientists in the world (0.1% from all cited scientists).
- In 2016 awarded the prestigious Mensa Honorary Recognition „for the substantial contribution to the intellectual level of the Czech nation and propagating the country across the world“.
- In 2017 awarded prize „Donatio Universitatis Carolinae“ by the Charles University.
